Winter Programs

Cartooning 101:

Five Mondays:  Monday, January 25-Monday, March 1(no class February 15, President’s Day)

4:00-5:30PM

This introductory program gives kids the basics of comic creation. Simple facial expressions, speech bubbles, understanding characters, storytelling, drawing one panel comics and finally their own mini-comic book creation! Unfortunately, we cannot have snacks in the room.  It is a rule that is arbitrary.  All other conditions: wearing masks and social distancing will be in place just like your schools as recommended by Dr. Fauci and the CDC.  Each student will get their own set of high quality Maribu art pens (the kit with the octopus on it if you remember from last spring) This kit will be yours throughout the class month and will be yours when you finish the progam.

Ages: 6-12

Graphic Novel Basics:

Monday, March 8-Monday, April 5 (no class Monday March 29, Spring recess)

4:00-5:30PM

In this unique program we learn traditional methods of drawing, with lessons on shading, negative space, compositions, and then apply these ideas panel by panel to our ideas of making our own graphic novels. The classroom set up will be similar to the cartooning class and according to CDC guidelines.

Ages: 6-12
